Sheffield United announced today that additional staffing and players will be added to their Academy. A new scout and a new trainer will be on staff at the start of the new season. Two young players will be added to the the Academy roster. It’s expected to one or two players will be promoted to main club this preseason, so the academy enrollment will continue to about 8 or nine players.
The Blades have four players that could be promoted, but keeper D_Ospina has already been notified that he will remain behind for another season. Management wants to make a smooth transition from the current keeper, who must retire at the end the upcoming campaign. At least one defender is likely to make the jump, as the the defensive corp has been paper thin since a primary defender was sold mid-season.
Remaining funds have not been committed yet. Management has asked for proposals on a stadium expansion and for additional players. More information will be available in the coming weeks.
