  • Arsenals Pre Season Transfer Roundup

    Arsenal look set to start the season with five new faces in their starting eleven all of which are twenty one years old following a busy week in the market for the North London club. After a few seasons of going stale according to sections of the media, it appears that Arsenal are following the likes of Leeds United by allowing some of their higher earners to leave in place of promising talent that can hopefully spark the interest back into the club that has been missing.

    The first transfer over the line was actually one that was spoken about a few months ago with Luton Town Manager Neil Kirby and that was regarding the future of highly rated striker Samu who shone in the Championship and has been on the Gunners radar for some time and although no deal was agreed, it was revisited and a deal was finally agreed that will allow Giminez move the other way ;

    Samu has been awarded the Captains armband already after only just signing which shows the intent that Arsenal will be putting a lot more focus into a rebuild at the club.

    The next transfer to get the green light from the Gunners board was the addition of Defender Antonio Silva who was targeted by a number of clubs in the game but it was Arsenal who met the valuation of the Dortmund board and will be a straight replacement for Gvardiol who is leaving the Emirates this pre season ;

    Another player who the Gunners are putting a lot of faith in after assuring the twenty one year old that he will be in contention for a starting place and with a skill increase just around the corner, the gaffer will be hoping he can hit the ground running.

    The third player is another striker but a player that although the club had been in talks for over the last week, they did go all quiet leading Arsenal to believe that a deal would not happen but the Gunners decided to try an alternative approach using Rasmus Hojilund in a deal and West Ham decided to part ways with another highly rated player in the game, Karim Konate who has agreed a four season contract in North London ;

    Konate was subject to not only other bids along with Arsenals but has been a target for two clubs since he signed for the Gunners but the club keep their stance in that he isnt for sale and that he is set to be a big player for the future of the club.

    As the week came to an end, it showed no signs of slowing up for Arsenal and a double transfer was agreed as Friday night came to a close. The fourth to agree a deal in North London is a player that many supporters will have heard of after thinking that they had signed him some weeks ago before the club were dealt the blow with the news that PSG had done a u-turn ( sorry Ed ) and in fact decided to sell elsewhere however, Arsenal have finally got their player which some weeks ago looked set to be their only signing of the pre season. Ivan Fresneda has agreed a deal and will move in the next window much to the delight of the club ;

    As said above, the Gunners boss though they had agreed to sign Fresneda which would have taken up their budget and would have pretty much ensured no other deals, no academy intake or stadium but the way its worked out, not only have they signed what was their number one target but also still able to fund things elsewhere so the club have to be pleased with how its turned out.

    And lastly, the fifth and final deal of the week and one which may raise eyebrows is that the club have allowed James Trafford to leave foe a younger lesser rated player in Konstantinos Tzolakis who has signed from Norwich City ;

    Tzolakis will certainly have big gloves to fill from James Trafford who had a great season for Arsenal last season so another bold move by the Gunners who look set to have five twenty one year olds in their starting eleven next season which doesn't concern the gaffer who had this to say moments ago ;

    " Firstly, I am delighted to be sitting here and looking at the business we have been able to do over the last week. Some moves which may raise some eyebrows for sure but its a direction that I wanted to take the club in last pre season but was unable to secure the players which we wanted despite our best efforts. We are fully aware that playing lower rated players comes at a cost and results me be affected but I am still confident we can still be a force on our day and will give our all to be competitive next season.

    We had a transfer budget which we wanted to use, we thought we had used it all on Fresneda some weeks ago but we know what happened there so had to decide whether to head to auction which I think will be tough or to use the budget and add where needed to bring the players in which we have and I am well pleased to have done the business we have "
