    Juve 1-1 Real

At any other time this wouldn't have been a bad result, a point in Turin. Sadly however we need wins at the moment and this isn't enough.
We started strongly but faded as the game progressed and Juve got back into it and finished the game the stronger of the two sides.
Next up is Lens which is a potential banana skin but we need to win to keep in touch with the top three.

      Battered!

This was our third venture against the mighty PSG this season - and by far our worst result. Unlike the previous two games we thought it was time to try counter them! With Lavia out we went for a back 5 but it may as well have been a back 1 (minus a keeper) because we had 30 shots sent against us, but hey we had 19! Game was closer than the 6-2 scoreline but we thoroughly deserved the loss. It doesn't get much easier wtih games against Fiorentina and Madrid coming up. Well done Ed. A whole season with A!

        PSG 6 - 2 Bayern Munich
After stealing the points in the final minutes in the away game earlier in the season, i feared that karma would take its revenge. I even went as far as recalling Fresneda from Cardiff in order to avoid playing a squaddie. However, we got a convincing victory. The result is harsh on Bayern - my calcs had it down as a 0.9 goal supremacy. Bayern are a very good team and still have a couple who are due rerates, so they will only get stronger. They are more than capable of challenging Fiorentina and Real Madrid for the role of main challenger, and it will be interesting to see whether they stick with the current bunch and let them improve or whether they trade age for quality for short term gain (the Derek way).
Unlucky Ant, but i beleive BM will emerge as the main contender in the upcoming seasons.

          Atletico Madrid 5 Napoli 3

With some recent patchy form not helped by player absentees a home game against the bottom of the league who have been playing the same tactics for many weeks was the order of the day. Issue one, Napoli changed tactics, issue two, Atletico tested the waters of playing their 24-rated goalkeeper at 2-0 up and the consequences were almost a total disaster. Other teams seem to be able to play anyone in goal and get decent performances but Urbig was atrocious. 3 goals conceded in 59 minutes against a side who scored less than a goal a game this season and were taking over 16 shots to score a goal this season. Crazy but this is Atletico....its become the normal to just expect anything over the past couple of seasons of bad luck. Thankfully with the help of an own goal and a late goal Atletico got the job done but this result just enforces what an up and down season it has been.

Manager Simon Marsh commented "Martinez has struggled all season and its well documented that he is simply not gaining skill. We felt at 2-0 we could afford to give Urbig a chance to develop a little but it completely back-fired on us. The three points does at least keep us up in 7th place with Marseille performing miracles and Lisbon having a great season. We have picked up yet another 2 week injury to add to another suspension and so it will be more tinkering needed for the next game".
