    Bayern Munich 2024/25 Season Review

In a season that saw Bayern Munich return to their relentless, attacking best, Ant Harris’s men ended the 2024/25 campaign with their heads held high, finishing third in the league, level on points with second place, and boasting the second most wins (24) in the competition. While the title eluded them, Bayern's blend of youth, pace, and tactical discipline laid a strong foundation for what fans truely hope to be a goldne era under Harris's leadership.

From the opening matchday, there was a clear sense that this Bayern side had picked up where they left off uner Banks. The team registered 85 goals across 38 matches which was the fourth highest in the league—while only conceding 49, thanks in no small part to a rock-solid defensive core and the emergence of a superstar between the sticks.

The continual rise of 22-year-old Dutch goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen was one of the season’s defining stories. With 271 saves, 2 man-of-the-match performances, and an outstanding 4644 minutes played, Verbruggen became the steady heartbeat of Bayern’s defence.

"It’s been an incredible ride," Verbruggen told a local Bavarian nuewspaper.. "I’ve grown so much mentally this season. The coaching staff have trusted me, and the backline...guys like Lukeba and Timber have been immense. We defend as a unit."

It’s no exaggeration to say Verbruggen kept Bayern in the race during the tense lowscoring affairs some weeks.. His reflexes, distribution, and leadership belie his age, and he’s surely now firmly on the radar for the Dutch national team.

Central defenders Castello Lukeba, Jurrien Timber, and Gonçalo Inácio provided Bayern with a young but mature spine. Lukeba led the backline with 53 key tackles and 8 assists, proving himself equally adept at launching attacks. Timber and Inácio were great in possession and unrelenting in their duels, recording 51 and 40 key passes respectively. Ivory Coast’s Ousmane Diomande also shone , chipping in with 2 goals and 24 shots. He was so close to 22 rated. We need him to progress.

If Bayern’s defence was their somewhat fortress, the midfield was definitely their engine. Romeo Lavia and Adam Wharton provided the steel, racking up 81 and 68 key passes respectively, with Lavia also contributing a goal and 7 assists. Their work rate enabled creative midfielders like Xavi Simons and Nicolás Paz to thrive.

Simons, in particular, dazzled with 126 shots, 20 goals, and 5 assists, combining flair with end-product. The 23-year-old Dutchman was the team's creative talisman and had defenders quite simpley chasing shadows all season.

"Xavi is unplayable when he’s in the mood," said Lavia post-season. "He lifts the whole team with his energy and vision."

Meanwhile, 20-year-old Argentine Nicolás Paz quietly made his mark, notching 5 goals and 10 assists in his first season at the club. The 90,000,001 pound man came in ith huge epecations, and quickly established himself as a first team regular.Harris will be hoping for more goals from him next season.

No review would be complete without spotlighting Bayern's attacking duo: Benjamin Šeško and Wilfried Gnonto. Together, they scored 58 goals and were central to Harris’s attacking philosophy.

Šeško, the Slovenian marksman, finished with 30 goals, 5 assists, and 11 man-of-the-match awards. He is surely a contender fpr EFL player of the season, his clinical finishing crucial for Bayern.

"It’s been my best season yet," Šeško said after the final matchday. "The service I get is phenomenal in Simons, Paz, Wharton, they all make my job so much easier."

Gnonto, just as deadly, brought electricity on the wing with 28 goals and 3 assists. His 192 shots showed a fearless hunger for goal, while his link-up play stretched opposition defenses relentlessly.

While the disappointment of narrowly missing out on second may linger for some time, the mood in Munich is overwhelmingly positive. The team is young, hungry, and growing together, and partying together to be honest. . With Harris at the helm, and a core group all under 25 years of age, could Byaern make a more sustained title charge against the likes of Real Madrid and PSG next season? Off season decisions may influence this. Rumours ciruclating that Fiorentina are seeking another manager. Will they still challenge?

Key questions remain: Will Verbruggen remain the undisputed No.1 with competition from the experienced Sascha Burchert?? Can Simons and Paz maintain their creative form? Will Sesko push further foeward in the race for the Golden Boot next year?
