  • Best Football Ground?

What is the best football ground you have been to? What game did you attend, what year and what was the score?

Ok, I'll start this off but before I answer please take into account that I am a Tottenham fan!

Best ground I went to in the 80s - Highbury.
The recepetion area just inside the entrance was one of the best I've seen (until Tottenham's new ground)

Game attended was Arsenal v Tottenham and it finished 3-2.

Steve Archibald scored both Tottenham goals sandwiched between a goal from an under-rated player of the time Tony Woodcock.

I think one of the best atmosphere's though was Dortmund!

It’s hard to seperate the ground from the game.

I went to Old Trafford to see Exeter hold Man Utd to a nil nil draw which puts it up there for me, the whole experience, seeing Exeter at that stadium.

but given most of my time has been spent at conference stadiums then it does put old Trafford easily up there

Got to be the great escape season 2014/15 under Ronnie Moore

2-1 home win against Exeter where we had to win to have a chance of staying up. Only 5,000 at the game but us northerners know how to make noise

              Up the pools

As a Liverpool fan I'm always going to say Anfield. However had the opportunity to go to the Mestella a few years ago and WOW, what an atmosphere that was

Elland road. Discussion closed lol. Smash your shins on the seat in front of you of you move an inch, less room than a ryanair flight, but raw and the best atmosphere in the world. What a place.

Best to visit, olympiastadion Berlin. So much history to it. Amazing tour, lots to learn and see as well as the old Olympic park.
Season 2 Premier League Champions - Leeds
Season 2 Conference Champions - Porto

Has to be Ewood Park, right? My first ever game was an FA Cup 3rd Round tie at home to the Champions at the time Liverpool. We were leading 1-0 thanks to a Simon Garner goal, only for Mark Atkins to shin in an own goal at the death!

Camp Nou, olympiastadion, Old Wembley been to all those, all good shouts. Old Upton Park was a good away trip.

Sooo many at Elland Road, can I have 2? Oh, there are a couple at The Vic too (Hartlepool for the uneducated )...tricky...

Anyway, one was Leeds v Stuttgart in the European Cup. We lost the first leg 3-0 in Stuttgart and at that time no team had ever turned round a first leg deficit of 3 goals.

Long story short we beat the Germans 4-1 and would've been out on away goals had Stuttgart not fielded an ineligible player. The game was replayed in a winner takes all at the Nou Camp with Leeds winning 2-1 (Carl Shutt took control of the ball on the half way line before running half the pitch and scoring - he no doubt still dines out on that goal today).

I can still remember the look of utter shock on the face of the German international defender, Guido Buckwald - he was absolutely bricking it.

Anyway, it was one of the noisiest games I've ever been to. My head was literally throbbing when I left.
